Your GP can refer you to Steps to Health, Scotch Horn's Exercise Referral Scheme which provides a safe, supervised and enjoyable introduction to physical activity within a controlled environment. The scheme gives people who are not regularly active or who have health problems the opportunity to improve their health and well-being, regardless of age, ability or experience.

Available for all customers who meet the referral criteria, the following programmes are available:

Steps to Health programmes

  • Cardiac Rehab: A supervised exercise session in the gym or a supervised circuit session with a qualified cardiac instructor to provide you with coaching and reassurance during the session.  This session is for anyone with a previous history of cardiovascular disorders, anyone recovering from a heart attack or recent cardiac surgery.  We aim to give you the reassurance you need to exercise safely to help improve the health of your heart and continue with your normal daily life.
  • Stroke Rehab: Designed to help people with their recovery from a stroke. We work on individual needs to improve mobility and coordination.
  • Cancer Rehab: A step by step approach to help you live with and beyond cancer by providing you with a range of tools and opportunities to enhance your recovery.
  • Parkinson's: A supervised exercise session aimed to help with mobility for people living with Parkinson's.

You can ask your GP or specialist clinician to refer you to any of the above programmes.

This class is mainly chair based and is designed to deliver safe, effective and progressive exercise.  You can refer yourself to Steady Steps or ask your GP to refer you, just complete the form here and a member of the team will get in touch to get you started.
